John Gorza steps down from Australian National Teams after Tokyo Olympics

After 15 years working with our National Men’s and Women’s Football teams I have decided to step down in my role as Goalkeeping coach to take another path in life’s journey. It’s been an amazing ride which has taken me to all parts of the world competing in over 170 international matches including many friendly tournaments, AFC Championships, 2 FIFA World Cups and of course the Tokyo Olympic games.

During this time, I have had the privilege to work with many outstanding people all of whom shared the same passion to improve the players and the game in this country. There have been many highs and lows, lots of laughs and always great banter and I have made many lifelong friends along the way. To all the staff and players that I have worked with over the years thanks for the wonderful memories! Thank you to all the friends and family that have supported me throughout this journey especially my wife Mercia who has always been my biggest supporter.

I will still be coaching at the grass roots level as I have for the past 30 years and my team of coaches and I will continue to strive to find the next Mitch Langerak and Teagan Micah!.
